Trump legal team at risk of outbreak as ‘Rudy Giuliani’s son gets Covid’ after he’s seen not wearing a mask at events

DONALD Trump’s longshot election challenge suffered a body blow when key members of his legal team learned they were potentially exposed to coronavirus by top lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s son.

Andrew Giuliani who is a special assistant to the president and the son of Trump’s personal lawyer announced on Friday morning that he had contracted coronavirus.

Andrew was reportedly seen not wearing a mask at numerous functions, including a Rose Garden event and a news conference with top members of Trumps legal team yesterday.

If crucial members of that small, core legal team may now have to quarantine, the sidelining could severely hinder Trump’s battle to overturn the vote counts in numerous states where he’s alleged fraud.

One member of the team, Jenna Ellis, told Axios “the entire Giuliani-affiliated legal team was probably exposed.”

The legal team has already removed itself from a touted Friday meeting at the White House between Trump and lawmakers in Michigan, one of the states he’s seeking to flip into his column from Joe Biden’s.

“It’s a joke, it’s beyond embarrassing,” a Trump adviser told Axios.

One day after Andrew Giuliani was seen in the back of a room packed with reporters listening to his father speak at a press conference, he tweeted that he’d contracted Covid.

“This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19,” Andrew Giuliani, 34, tweeted.

“I am experiencing mild symptoms, and am following all appropriate protocols, including being in quarantine and conducting contact tracing.”

Andrew Giuliani said he had “not heard from anyone else who has tested positive at this point,” in a text message to Politico.

However, The New York Times’ White House correspondent Maggie Haberman reported Friday afternoon that “at least 4 other people who work on WH complex have tested positive for the virus, in addition to Andrew Giuliani.”

During the news conference at the Republican National Committee headquarters on Thursday, Rudy Giuliani and other lawyers for the Trump campaign made false claims of voter fraud in the presidential election and detailed various conspiracy theories.

Andrew Giuliani was one of only a few White House staffers spotted in the Rose Garden last Friday not wearing a mask, as Trump addressed the administration’s Operation Warp Speed coronavirus vaccine development work.

He is the latest Trump administration official to test positive for Covid-19 and it was not immediately known if he became infected while serving in his official capacity.

Andrew Giuliani came into contact with officials who later tested positive for Covid-19 including Trump campaign senior adviser Corey Lewandowski and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

The White House has experienced three outbreaks of the virus, including a Rose Garden event in early October after which Trump announced his diagnosis.

Other White House staffers who have been infected in the past six weeks are First Lady Melania Trump, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, Trump senior advisers Stephen Miller and Hope Hicks, and the chiefs of staff to both the president and Vice President Mike Pence.

As of early afternoon on Friday, Rudy Giuliani had not tweeted about his son’s infection.

Andrew Giuliani’s positive test comes shortly after the US surpassed 11 million coronavirus cases and more than 252,000 deaths.

On Thursday, the US reached a daily high of 185,759 new infections, topping the previous record of 177,224 new cases last Friday.

Andrew Giuliani played a role in promoting the president’s support for bringing college football back this fall amid the pandemic, and served as a liaison to sports leagues.
