THE top 10 items Brits had delivered to their homes and to others during the pandemic have been revealed.
From this weekend, delivery drivers are set to have their busiest two weeks of the year to date, delivering almost 600 million gifts alone in the run up to Christmas and New Year.
Three in five Brits (59 per cent) said they wouldn’t have got through the pandemic without delivery drivers, according to a poll of 2,000 people by Censuswide on behalf of Deliveroo.
This year is expected to break records with over five billion packages delivered.
The survey found that three quarters of Brits’ (75 per cent) attitude towards delivery drivers and couriers has become more positive during lockdown.
Just over three in five (56 per cent) said they were not aware of how important the role of delivery riders was and how much they relied on them (62 per cent) until Covid-19 hit.
Three in five Brits (59 per cent) said it allowed them to reduce unnecessary journeys, and over half (55 per cent) said it allowed them to stay safe at home.
From groceries, home gym equipment and home office supplies to toys, flowers and toilet paper, the nation’s doors have continued to ring.
With Christmas only a few weeks away, over one-third of Brits (35 per cent) plan on sending all of their Christmas presents via delivery drivers this year.
On average, Brits will send and receive 11 Christmas gifts, meaning 595 million presents will be sent by delivery drivers this year.
