‘Selfish’ unjabbed dancers are putting Strictly in jeopardy… there’s no reason for it, says James Jordan

STRICTLY legend James Jordan last night urged the BBC to reveal which pro dancers had refused to have a Covid jab — and throw them off the show.

The ex-pro said bosses had a “moral obligation” to protect other pros and celebs by insisting all those taking part are double jabbed.

And he insisted the “selfish” trio who have refused their vaccines should be thrown off the show.

Dancer and choreographer James, 43, said: “If someone on this show gets this virus and their immune system is really low and they die, it could have been prevented.

“The BBC is publicly funded by taxpayers. There’s over 44million people that are double vaccinated in this country so the BBC has a moral obligation to the country to say to these dancers, ‘I’m really sorry, unless you’re going to be double vaccinated you can’t have your position on Strictly’.

“I don’t believe they should be dancing and putting the whole cast of Strictly in jeopardy.

“If they all go down with Covid then there’s no show. I love Strictly and normally I’m the biggest supporter of all the dancers. But in this case I can’t be.

“I find it selfish and nonsensical. There’s just no reason for them to be doing what they’re doing.”

Trending In The News exclusively revealed on Saturday that two of the pros had refused the offer of a jab.

And yesterday we also revealed a third dancer was not vaccinated.

A fourth professional is already isolating having contracted Covid.

James, whose partners on the show included Denise van Outen, added: “The BBC should have been saying are you double vaxxed before they employed them or brought them over from another country into this country.

“I’m not saying these people are from another country because we still don’t know. They could be the British ones.

“But I do believe the BBC should be checking the people that are going on the show because it’s such close contact, you are literally on top of each other day in, day out.

“Everyone has the right to do what they want, but if you don’t want to be vaccinated don’t expect to be on a flagship show on the BBC.

“You can’t have it both ways, there are consequences to your actions.

“It was just the same way that it was law to wear a mask. I wore it as much out of respect for other people. This is all about respect for other people.”

Bosses face a revolt after the show’s celebrities discovered the identity of the three pros who have refused the vaccine.

At least one learned they have been paired with an unjabbed pro and is said to be furious they were not told.

Two other celebs paired with unjabbed pros are fiercely pro-vaccine.

With the first live show on Saturday, sources say there is growing unrest behind the scenes and calls for the identities of the individuals to be revealed.

A Strictly spokesman said: “We do not comment on speculation of somebody’s Covid vaccination status.

“Strictly Come Dancing production has, and will, continue to follow strict government guidelines to ensure the safety of all on the show.”
