Her Majesty, seen returning to Windsor from Sandringham earlier this week, is believed to have seen her eldest son on Tuesday

Royal aides say he isn’t experiencing any strong symptoms.

Charles saw his 95-year-old mother “recently”, it was confirmed today.

It’s understood the pair met on Tuesday.

A source said: “The Queen and Prince of Wales did meet recently.

“Her Majesty not displaying any symptoms.

“The situation will continue to be monitored.”

CHARLES HAS COVID

Her Majesty has led by example throughout the pandemic, sitting alone at her husband’s funeral in April 2021 and cancelling a family Christmas party in December because it was “the right thing to do”.

Despite a period of ill-health towards the end of last year, she has appeared to be on sprightly form during her recent engagements.

The Queen was most recently seen on Monday, she beamed brightly as she travelled to Windsor from Sandringham after announcing Camilla will be Queen Consort when Charles is King.

She also made reporters laugh as she petted her dorgi while reading cards sent by children as she celebrates her Platinum Jubilee.

However, her aides will be keeping her schedule light before a series of outings in March.

Officials are keen she will not be rushed and “lessons have been learned” since her punishing 19 jobs in as many days last October, which led to her resting on doctors’ orders.

PRINCE ISOLATES

Charles is resting at home after his positive test.

He attended a black tie reception at the British Museum last night with the Duchess of Cornwall.

Camilla has tested negative, telling reporters today she was “lucky” – and that Charles is finding it a “bit tiresome” to have the illness for a second time.

The prince last night met with guests including Chancellor Mr Sunak, who has since tested negative, and Priti Patel to celebrate the work of the British Asian Trust (BAT).

Under Covid rules, if you live with or come into contact with someone who tests positive you do not have to self-isolate if fully vaccinated.

Both Charles and Camilla are triple-jabbed and have encouraged others to get the vaccine.

Clarence House said: “This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.

“HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible.”

Charles was due to unveil a statue of Licoricia of Winchester today before attending a civic reception at The Great Hall.

He was forced to pull out just moments before – leaving the waiting crowds groaning in disappointment.

The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire read a message on behalf of Charles.

It said: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am so sorry that I cannot be with you today. I am desperately disappointed as I was so looking forward to marking this historic occasion with you.

“I hope very much that I will be able to visit at a future time. But for today please accept my most heartfelt apologies and my very best wishes as you mark this memorable occasion for Winchester. “

It is the second time Charles has been hit by the disease after testing positive at the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

He said at the time he “got away with it quite lightly”.
