Twitter users had jokes – and complaints

The former NFL running back is 73 years old, so he is considered to be at a higher risk of getting seriously ill from Covid, but that didn’t deter Twitter users from pointing out that he was once accused of two murders.

“It’s nice to see OJ is the one getting stabbed for a change,” one user commented on the photo Simpson posted on Friday afternoon.

The photo shows him, donning his “Juice” mask, while a nurse injects the coveted vaccine into his arm.

“Get your shot. I got mine,” Simpson wrote in the caption.

Users were quick to question how Simpson got a jab

“Yeah that’s just what I want to see, OJ Simpson getting his vaccine before my elderly Dad and immune compromised me,” one user commented.

“As a zero time murderer, I think I deserve this vaccine before you do. Just saying,” another added.

“Once again. The glove don’t fit,” wrote another, zooming in on the woman administering Simpson’s shot, who seemed to be wearing gloves that were a tad too large.

The dig was referencing a particularly famous moment in The People Vs Orenthal James Simpson murder trial when the defendant tried on gloves that were found at the crime scene.

Simpson was accused in 1994 of murdering his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.

Both were found slashed to death outside of Brown’s condo in Los Angeles in June 1994.

Simpson’s legal team said the gloves proved he was not the murderer

After being listed as a person of interest because of the glove found at the crime scene, Simpson was formally charged with the murders on June 17, 1994.

He didn’t turn himself in, however, and eventually led cops on the infamous white Bronco chase that was broadcasted on live TV and watched by an estimated 95million people.

The Simpson murder trial is considered one of the most famous of all time, and the moment where Simpson struggled to squeeze into the glove evidence is considered a turning point in the case.

Simpson was eventually found not guilty, but did land himself in prison several years later for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon for an unrelated crime.

Those charges were related to an incident where Simpson attempted to steal memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel in 2007.

He was released in 2017 after nine years in jail.
