GREECE is scrapping more Covid rules from tomorrow, making travelling easier for Brits.
From tomorrow, Greece is abolishing its Passenger Locator Form (PLF) requirement for all travellers, regardless of vaccination status.
Currently, all visitors must fill in a PLF before arriving in Greece, and failure to do so could result in being banned from entering and a €500 fine.
However, from tomorrow that rule is being scrapped, making travel easier for Brits heading off on a Greece holiday.
The Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias said the change will “simplify the entry process for travellers”.
He said: “Following the recommendation of the Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Health, the completion of the PLF by visitors from all countries for their entry into Greece is abolished from March 15, 2022.
“The abolition of the PLF simplifies the entry process for travellers, shifting the emphasis to the control of vaccination certificates.”
The rule change means vaccinated Brits can travel to Greece like they could before the pandemic – without needing to do any forms or tests.
To enter, vaccinated Brits can show either proof of vaccination or proof of recovery and don’t need to take a Covid test.
However, Greece is one of several European countries which have put an expiration date on vaccine certificates, meaning Brits who were vaccinated too long ago will be subject to stricter entry rules.
Adults who had their second dose more than seven months ago must have received the booster jab to enter Greece easily.
If they haven’t had their booster, they will be considered unvaccinated and must follow guidelines for unvaccinated travellers.
Unvaccinated Brits still need to show a negative Covid test result or proof of recovery to enter Greece.
The UK could soon follow in Greece’s footsteps, as calls have been made for PLFs to be scrapped for Brits returning home after a holiday.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is said to be pushing for the forms to be ditched ahead of the Easter holidays.
Other European countries are also relaxing Covid rules. Today, France ditched its strict Covid vaccine passport requirement, meaning anyone can enter bars, restaurants and cinemas, regardless of vaccination status.
In addition, France has also scrapped the mandatory use of face masks – with the exception of public transport and care homes.
Spain could soon follow in France’s footsteps, as experts have predicted face masks could become a thing of the past in as little as three weeks.
