Unexpected Diagnosis
Bethany Wright, 26, suspected she had pre-eclampsia at 34 weeks pregnant due to worsening headaches. However, a CT scan revealed a brain tumour instead of the pregnancy complication.
Difficult Decisions
Doctors confirmed the presence of a 6cm brain tumour and recommended surgery, but Bethany had to wait until after giving birth to her son, Alfie, before undergoing the operation.
Challenging Journey
After the birth, Bethany had surgery to remove 85% of the tumour, followed by 33 rounds of radiotherapy and ongoing chemotherapy. The diagnosis of a grade 3 astrocytoma brought uncertainty about her future.
Making Memories
Feeling robbed of motherhood, Bethany is creating a memory box for Alfie, including letters and voice recordings, to ensure he knows her even if she's not there to see him grow up.
