Due to pandemic rules limiting face-to-face appointments, Oliver was only seen by his GP four months after reporting symptoms. It was then discovered that he had a large tumor wrapped around his heart and lungs, leading to his untimely death. Tragically, his father also took his own life due to the grief of losing his son.
Frustration Over Triage System
An inquest revealed that the NHS's emergency triage system, implemented to prevent the spread of Covid, may have hindered Oliver's chances of early diagnosis and treatment. Despite efforts to assess patients remotely, the system was criticized for failing to identify Oliver's serious condition sooner.
