Similar Symptoms, Different Outcomes

Molly Courtney and her daughter Mia both fell ill with a stomach bug around Christmas of 2024. However, when Mia's symptoms worsened, it was revealed that the five-year-old was battling cancer.

A Shocking Discovery

After Mia's stomach ache persisted and became more severe, Molly decided to seek medical help. An ultrasound revealed a stage two Wilms' tumour, a rare form of kidney cancer, in Mia.

Facing the Diagnosis

Mia underwent surgery to remove the tumour and her kidney, followed by six months of chemotherapy. Molly, a stay-at-home mum, shared her perspective on their new reality and the challenges they now face.

Support and Strength

The family received financial aid from charity My Shining Star and a GoFundMe was set up to assist with Mia's treatment. Despite the hardships, Mia's spirits were lifted by personalized gifts and gestures of kindness.
