Big-hearted Sun readers raise £10,000 for brave tot Mercy Cuthbertson's vital cancer treatment

SUN on Sunday readers have come together to raise an incredible £10,000 in just one week for Mercy Cuthbertson, a five-year-old girl battling brain cancer. The funds will go towards the £100,000 needed for Mercy's life-saving treatment, and she now needs just £10,000 more to reach her goal.

Overwhelmed with support

Mercy, from North Tyneside, was filled with joy as she got a special VIP ride on a bus donated by Go North East. The company contributed £500 to the cause, bringing a smile to Mercy's face. "I love buses so this has been amazing," she said. Her parents have already raised an impressive £80,000, and the support from Sun on Sunday readers has given them comfort and gratitude.

A tough battle

Mercy was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma last year and has undergone three brain surgeries, 28 radiotherapy sessions, and intense physiotherapy. The funds raised will hopefully allow her to take part in one of two clinical trials abroad, giving her a chance at a better future.
