Transport for London set to spend up to £2.5million on equality and inclusion training

TfL's Investment in Diversity and Inclusion

Transport for London (TfL) is planning to invest up to £2.5 million in equality and inclusion training. The contract tender aims to address inequalities, embed an inclusive culture, and prioritize people, customers, and colleagues in decision-making.

Criticism from Former Tory Mayoral Candidate

Former Tory mayoral candidate Susan Hall criticized the expenditure, calling the amount "eye-watering." She expressed concern about the allocation of funds towards diversity and inclusion initiatives while essential services like public transport are in need of improvement.

Scope of the Training

The four-year deal will extend the training to other public bodies such as the London Fire Service, the Met Police, and staff on the Elizabeth line. Bidders are expected to outline an equality framework for marginalized or minority staff groups within TfL.

Response from TfL

A TfL spokesperson defended the investment, stating that the training will benefit tens of thousands of staff across various organizations, promoting inclusivity and fair treatment for all individuals.
