Tory MP confirms he's been arrested over rape allegation

Crispin Blunt, a Tory MP, has confirmed that he has been arrested over a rape allegation. Blunt revealed that he has been interviewed twice by the police, once three weeks ago and again this morning.

Cooperating fully with the investigation

In a statement, Blunt said that he is "ready to cooperate fully" with the police. He also stated that he reported his concerns about extortion during the first interview three weeks ago. Blunt believes that the arrest was unnecessary and is confident that the investigation will end without any charges.

Additional charges

Blunt was also questioned on suspicion of possession of controlled substances. Surrey Police confirmed that a man was arrested on Wednesday morning in Horley on suspicion of rape and possession of controlled substances. The MP has been released on conditional police bail while further inquiries are conducted.

Conservative Party's response

The Conservative Party has declined to comment on the matter, citing an ongoing police investigation. This incident adds to a series of sleaze allegations that have hit the party, including the removal of former deputy chief whip Chris Pincher and the suspension of former minister Peter Bone from the House of Commons.

Unrelated to previous allegations

It is important to note that these latest allegations do not involve any of the previously mentioned individuals. The investigation is ongoing.
