Surrey Police confirmed that a man was arrested on Wednesday morning in Horley on suspicion of rape and possession of controlled substances. The MP has been released on conditional police bail while further inquiries are conducted.

The Conservative Party has declined to comment on the matter, citing an ongoing police investigation. This incident adds to a series of sleaze allegations that have hit the party, including the removal of former deputy chief whip Chris Pincher and the suspension of former minister Peter Bone from the House of Commons.
