Top Tory Accused of Striking Fellow MP in Heated Exchange over Hamas

Alleged Physical Altercation

A top Tory MP has been accused of striking a fellow MP in a heated exchange over their differing views on Hamas. Reform MP Andrew Bridgen claims that former minister Crispin Blunt hit him on the back of the head and called him a derogatory name in a Commons café.

Investigation Underway

Following the incident, Bridgen reported the alleged assault to Commons security. Parliamentary authorities and party whips are now investigating the matter. A spokesperson for the Commons stated that there is zero tolerance for abuse or harassment.

War of Words

Bridgen and Blunt had previously engaged in a war of words in the press regarding Blunt's views on Palestine. This exchange of opinions ultimately culminated in the alleged physical altercation.

Expulsion Controversy

Over the weekend, Bridgen voiced his dissatisfaction with the fact that Blunt remained in the Tory party despite previously being expelled over a tweet deemed anti-Jewish. Bridgen argued that it was unfair for the party to retain an MP who opposed designating Hamas as a terror organization and even claimed that the group had legitimate targets in Israel.

Complicity in War Crimes

In addition to their differences over Hamas, Bridgen also accused Blunt of suggesting that the UK may be complicit in war crimes by supporting Israel. These statements further escalated tensions between the two MPs.

When approached for comment, Blunt declined to discuss the alleged incident that occurred in Parliament's Portcullis House on Monday afternoon.
