Nicola Sturgeon’s husband Peter Murrell was rrested amid a police probe into the SNP’s finances

Peter Murrell – the party’s former CEO – was quizzed by cops for 11 hours on Wednesday while the couple’s home was raided by officers.

He was eventually released without charge pending investigation but the dramatic police swoop has rocked the SNP.

Now new First Minister Humza Yousaf has suffered another blow after confirming his accountants have left.

And he faces a fresh headache as allies of vanquished leadership challenger Kate Forbes are reportedly demanding the race be re-run.

Mr Yousaf ran as the continuity candidate and was widely seen as Ms Sturgeon’s preferred successor.

An ally of Ms Forbes told the Telegraph: “There has been a material change in circumstances.

“People will want to avoid a re-run because Kate Forbes would win, but Humza is going to be left holding this particularly ugly baby.
