Shadow Chancellor's £20bn Tax Proposal Unveiled

Rachel Reeves' Secret Plan

Labour's Shadow Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, has been revealed to have secretly planned a £20 billion tax bomb targeting homeowners, pensioners, and savers. The proposal was detailed in a 2018 pamphlet.

Proposed Changes

Reeves suggested an overhaul of the tax system to increase public spending and redistribute cash. Her plan included reviewing council tax bands, introducing a property tax, attacking pensions, and implementing a new tax on the savings of the wealthy.

Response from Conservatives

Craig Tracey, deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, criticized the proposal, stating that it confirms their belief that a Labour government would lead to higher taxes.

Labour's Stance

Labour clarified that the ideas in the pamphlet were not official policy and would not be included in their manifesto. They also highlighted a £46 billion Budget black hole in the Tory party.
