Rishi Sunak vows to be UK Prime Minister until 2030, despite falling behind in polls

Rishi Sunak, the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has expressed his ambition to remain in office until 2030, despite trailing behind in the polls. Sunak, who is preparing for the next General Election expected in autumn 2024, stated that he is "hungry to win" and is confident of his party's success.

Confidence in the face of challenges

Speaking as he headed to the G20 summit in New Delhi, Sunak acknowledged his frustration with recent setbacks, such as the dodgy concrete crisis and the escape of a terror suspect prisoner. However, he dismissed concerns from within his own party about a potential electoral wipeout and asserted that he is fully committed to winning.

Despite the current controversies, Sunak remains undeterred in his quest for re-election. As he made changes to his Cabinet in preparation for the upcoming election battle, the Prime Minister emphasized his determination to succeed, stating, "We are fired up in Downing Street. We have brought in high-quality people who believe in our victory. We are hungry to win, and I am fired up to deliver it."

A challenging road ahead

Despite Sunak's unwavering confidence, he faces significant challenges ahead. The Prime Minister is currently contending with two by-elections in Tamworth and Mid Beds, where the Conservative Party is at risk of losing. The situation has left many MPs feeling despondent and solely focused on retaining their seats.

However, Sunak brushed off suggestions that he is an unlucky leader and emphasized that progress is being made on key pledges, including addressing inflation and curbing channel boat crossings. The Prime Minister reiterated his determination to win the upcoming general election, and if successful, he could hold power until 2030.

Demonstrating capability to voters

In an effort to demonstrate his capability and win the trust of the British people, Sunak revealed his plan to showcase his accomplishments before the next election, which may take place in January 2025. He stated, "I will show the British people what I am capable of in the time I have now before the election. Give me a full term, and then I'll show what I can deliver for you."

As Sunak embarks on his journey to maintain power, only time will tell whether his determination and confidence will translate into electoral success.
