PM orders wargames for terror attacks in UK as Suella Braverman blasts ‘utterly odious’ pro-Palestine ‘hate marches’

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has instructed police chiefs to conduct wargames to prepare for potential terrorist attacks on British soil. This comes as the Prime Minister warns of an "accelerated terrorism threat" in the wake of Israel's defensive war against Hamas. The government is urging security chiefs to simulate responses to public order and counter terror scenarios.

Cracking down on extremists

The Crown Prosecution Service has been ordered to take all necessary actions to ensure that extremists who glorify Hamas and promote anti-Semitism during pro-Palestine marches are prosecuted and punished. Suella Braverman, a government minister, has condemned the recent protests in central London as "hate marches" and has pledged to tighten anti-terror laws to crack down on dangerous extremists who operate below the criminal threshold.

A surge in arrests and concerns

Since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas on October 7th, the police have made 100 arrests related to the conflict. Metropolitan Police Chief Sir Mark Rowley has expressed concerns about the increase in hate crime and anti-Semitism in London, along with the challenges posed by state threats and terrorism. The police are working to identify additional protestors who may have violated anti-extremism regulations.
