MPs in a frantic scramble to snap up tiny number of seats to watch King Charles Coronation

POLITICIANS are in a frantic scramble to snap up a golden ticket to see King Charles crowned.

Party bosses have told MPs to get their bids in early for one of a handful of spots to witness the Coronation at Westminster Abbey.

Sharp-elbowed MPs have until Monday to get their bids in.

One Westminster insider said: “It is a stampede – like the Grand National.

“MPs are desperate to go and witness a slice of history.

“Some would give their right arm for a golden ticket.”

One MP’s office replied after just three seconds.

An email sent round by Labour whips on Thursday states: “Colleagues have been sent details about the allocation of tickets for the Coronation of King Charles III, which will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, to their Parliamentary email accounts.

“We will only be allocated a small number of tickets and are therefore asking for expressions of interest in attending by the end of Monday 6th March.”

Some 8,000 guests were packed into Westminster Abbey to witness Queen Elizabeth be crowned on 2 June, 1953.

But just 2,000 people will be invited to King Charles’ Coronation – making tickets far harder to come by.
