Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves is in the United States for this week
Sir Keir Starmer‘s No2 will rub shoulders with top Democrat adviser John Anzalone who steered the US President to victory over Donald Trump in 2020.
She will attend a dinner at the exclusive Harvard Club in Manhattan with the man known as Biden’s pollster.
He helped develop the candidates approach and messaging to voters to help pick up vital swing states to secure the White House win.
The move will be seen as Labour clearly pulling in as much expertise despite the party consistently ahead in the polls by around 15 per cent.
The meeting comes as Labour saw significant gains in the local elections earlier this month but experts say they could fall short of an overall majority.
Reeves will also use the event to meet former President Obama adviser David Axelrod who served in the White House for two years.
The event will be hosted by British award-winning author and writer Tina Brown who edited magazines such as Tatler and Vanity Fair for more than twenty years.
The visit to America will also see her meeting big company bosses and investors as she fights the Tories to be seen as the party of business.
Labour has been on a “prawn cocktail” offensive in the UK where Reeves has met around 400 business leaders since taking up her role.
One Labour source said the message on the trip will be that “with a Labour government, Britain will be open for business”.
Reeves will also travel to Washington DC this week to meet other political leaders.
