Labour receives £6million boost from private donors

Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer's party has seen a significant influx of £6million in donations from April to June, marking one of the party's best fundraising spells. The majority of this sum, amounting to £3million, came from long-standing donor Lord Sainsbury. Former Autoglass boss Gary Lubner also made a substantial contribution of £2.3million. Additionally, unions, including GMB and Unison, contributed a total of £739,000 to the party's funds. Overall, Labour raised £7.5million in the three-month period.

Tories raise £9.9million with health entrepreneur Frank Hester as their biggest donor

In comparison, the Conservative Party raised £9.9million in donations during the same time frame. Approximately half of this amount came from health entrepreneur Frank Hester. The Tories have already amassed £22million in donations, making it a successful fundraising year for the party so far.

Liberal Democrats secure £1.5 million in donations

The Liberal Democrats received £1.5 million in donations, including a £25,000 contribution from former leader Sir Nick Clegg. While their sum falls short compared to Labour and the Conservatives, it is still a significant boost for the party.

A spokesperson for Labour expressed pride in the party's financial success, stating, "Our finances have gone from strength to strength this year."
