A LABOUR MP sparked fury yesterday after appearing to suggest that Jewish people incited anti-Muslim riots in Britain.

Controversial tweet stirs up anger

On X, Clive Lewis shared an article from the Guardian about Israeli strikes in Gaza with the caption: "The link between the daily inhumanity being meted out to Palestinians and rising Islamophobia in the UK, are not unconnected."

Call for immediate suspension

Campaigners accused Mr Lewis of making a "highly irresponsible" comment at a time of heightened racial tensions and called for his immediate suspension.

Strong reactions from anti-antisemitism groups

Alex Hearn, co-director at Labour Against Antisemitism, said: "We call for his immediate suspension and for the whip to be removed while he is investigated."
