Larry the Cat Faces New Rival at No10
Downing Street's official mouse catcher, Larry the Cat, may have some competition when Sir Keir Starmer's family cat, JoJo, moves into Number 10, according to an expert. Larry, who has called the Prime Minister's office home for 13 years, will have to adjust to sharing his territory with the new feline resident.
Territorial Tensions and Introductions
An expert from Cats Protection explains that it's natural for cats to feel threatened by new arrivals in their territory, as they are protective of their space and resources. To help Larry and JoJo get along, it's advised to introduce them slowly, allowing them to get used to each other's scents before face-to-face interactions.
A Beloved Resident of No10
Larry, a 17-year-old tabby cat adopted from Battersea in 2011, has become a well-known figure at Downing Street. Described as greeting guests, inspecting security, and contemplating solutions to the mouse population, Larry has seen multiple Prime Ministers and even met Presidents Obama and Trump during his tenure.
