Former Chief Adviser seeks to launch new venture by Christmas
Dominic Cummings, the former chief adviser to Boris Johnson, is reportedly planning to create a new political party aimed at challenging the Conservatives. According to recent reports, Cummings has been reaching out to potential donors in order to launch his party by Christmas.
Time for a change
In a series of blog posts, Cummings expressed his belief that it is "time to build up to replace the rotten Tories and win." The mastermind behind the Leave campaign appears to be confident in his efforts to form a new party that would address the shortcomings of the current government.
Election predictions
Cummings boldly stated that he believes Rishi Sunak, the current Chancellor, will lose the next election. It seems that he sees an opportunity for his new party, which he has tentatively called the Startup Party, to take power in 2028 if Labour fails to deliver.
Policies and priorities
One of the key aspects of the Startup Party's agenda would be a tougher stance on crime and immigration. In addition, Cummings has indicated that the party would seek to leave the European Convention on Human Rights. He also intends to close tax loopholes that predominantly benefit the wealthy and link Members of Parliament's salaries to the median incomes of the general population.
A future challenger?
Although it remains to be seen whether Cummings can successfully establish and grow his new party, his plans have certainly garnered attention. As an influential figure and strategist, his potential political venture could present a significant challenge to the existing political landscape.
