Deputy PM Angela Rayner Accused of Breaching Ministerial Code by Asking Civil Servants to Help Her Move House

Accusations of Breaching Ministerial Code

Deputy PM Angela Rayner is facing allegations of breaching the ministerial code after reportedly asking civil servants to assist her in moving house.

Complaint Filed Against Rayner

The complaint comes after claims that private office staff helped set her up in the grace-and-favour Admiralty House, including moving furniture and cleaning at the Grade I listed home.

Response from Rayner's Department

Rayner's department stated that while civil servants provided logistical support, Rayner personally paid for removal and cleaning firms.

Accusations of Hypocrisy

In November, Rayner faced accusations of hypocrisy following plans to cut back on the council home Right to Buy scheme, which she had previously benefited from.

Criticism from Opposition

Opposition MPs criticized Rayner for allegedly undermining a policy that had helped her advance in the housing ladder, labeling it as hypocrisy.
