David Cameron calls on allies to support Ukraine financially

Lord Cameron urges Nato allies to step up

David Cameron is urging allies to provide financial support to Ukraine as the country marks the second anniversary of Russia's invasion. The former Prime Minister is putting pressure on the US and Nato allies to commit more funding towards Ukraine, following the blocking of a £47 billion aid package proposed by US President Joe Biden in Congress. Writing in Trending In The News, Lord Cameron and Polish counterpart Radek Sikorski highlight the importance of a strong response to Vladimir Putin's actions.

Britain announces additional funding

Britain has pledged a further £245 million munitions package to provide Ukrainian troops with artillery firepower. This announcement comes in addition to the £12 billion in economic and military aid that has been sent to Kyiv since 2022. Lord Cameron's assertive demands for increased support have not gone unnoticed, with one Congresswoman even telling him to "kiss my ass."

International support for Ukraine

At the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Lord Cameron continued to call for allies to step up their support for Ukraine. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized that the UK is willing to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes until Ukraine prevails. Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin praised Ukraine for becoming one of the largest, most capable, and respected fighting forces in the world.
