THE BBC is facing fresh bias allegations after leftie comedian Ben Elton today defended calling Rishi Sunak a “mendacious, narcissistic sociopath”.
Mr Elton launched the blistering personal attack on the Sunday with Kuenssberg show.
Ben Elton described Rishi Sunak as a “sociopath” on yesterday’s episode of Sunday with Kuenssberg
The leftie comedian defended the rant today, but apologised for the “personal reaction”
The Monty Python writer, and long-time Labour backer, slammed Mr Sunak for an “extraordinary Orwellian, meaningless, evasive word salad”.
On live national television he added: “I sort of believed maybe he’s kind of a bit more decent, and it turns out, he’s as much of a mendacious, narcissistic sociopath as his previous boss.”
This morning the comedian defended his rant, telling LBC: “It just happened.”
He claimed he “didn’t set out” to insult the PM.
And he apologised for the comments, insisting “it was a personal reaction”.
But Mr Elton added: “The BBC didn’t know I was going to say it, but then I didn’t know they were going to play that word salad and then ask me to comment on it.
“It just happened. That’s live telly.
“If that’s the worst he gets he should read some of my reviews.”
Tories slammed the publicly-funded broadcaster last night for booking the guest on its flagship political show.
MP Mark Jenkinson said: “The BBC seem completely unable to get this right due to their systemic bias.
“Whatever possessed them to become a soapbox for another celebrity lefty luvvie.”
Steve Brine said: “I would think most people in the country are more interested in hearing from another Elton.”
The fresh bias row follows a separate row over comedian Joe Lycett, who famously mocked Liz Truss on the programme before she became PM.
