BBC Accused of Failing to Label Hamas Gunmen as Terrorists

The BBC has come under fire from MPs who criticized the broadcaster for failing to use the term "terrorists" to describe Hamas gunmen who invaded Israel. Politicians expressed their outrage, calling the BBC's coverage a distortion of facts.

MPs Condemn BBC's Coverage of Hamas Gunmen

The Palestinian forces launched rockets into Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Sderot, while Hamas hit squads infiltrated Israel, killing innocent civilians in their sleep. However, the BBC referred to these individuals as "militants" rather than "terrorists". Moreover, the website's homepage focused on Israel's attacks in Gaza.

"BBC Needs to Get Its Act Together"

Lord Eric Pickles, former Tory chairman, criticized the BBC's lack of balance, stating that Hamas is a terrorist organization. He condemned their acts of breaking into civilian homes and murdering children. Pickles emphasized that the BBC should deliver fair, balanced, and reasonable coverage, and not just in isolated incidents.

MPs: BBC Taking One Side in the Conflict

Tory MP Damien Moore asserted that it is inappropriate for the BBC to clearly take one side in the conflict. He argued that Israel only retaliated after a major attack and, like any country protecting its citizens, their actions should be considered terrorism. Similarly, Tory MP Andrew Percy was appalled by the BBC's coverage and accused them of creating a moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel by refusing to call the perpetrators terrorists.
