Although Xbox couldn't help the player regain access to their account, they were able to shut it down and prevent the hacker from making any purchases with the user's credit card.

Other Xbox players in the comments emphasized the importance of enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on their accounts. 2FA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code sent to your phone or email, or the use of an authentication account from your confirmed mobile device.
