Xbox Fans Left Disappointed by Lack of Recognition at Game Awards

Starfield Snubbed with Only One Nomination

The 2023 Game Awards showcased some of the biggest releases of the year, leaving Xbox fans shocked and disappointed. Despite a plethora of deserving games, Xbox titles were largely overlooked, with one major game notably absent from the event. Bethesda's highly anticipated Starfield received just one nomination for Best Role-Playing Game, making it one of Xbox's most underappreciated games of the year.

Hi-Fi Rush Shines as Surprise Hit

While Xbox may have experienced some disappointment, there were a few bright spots. Hi-Fi Rush, a surprise hit released on the same day it was announced, received well-deserved recognition. The game secured four nominations in categories such as Best Art Direction, Best Score & Music, Best Audio Design, and Innovation in Accessibility.

Party Animals Surprises with Nominations

Xbox's party game, Party Animals, also managed to make an impact with two nominations for Best Family Game and Best Multiplayer. The game's success came as a pleasant surprise for Xbox fans.

PlayStation Dominates with Final Fantasy 16 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2

In contrast, PlayStation had a strong showing at the awards. Final Fantasy 16 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received multiple nominations in various categories. Final Fantasy 16 was recognized for its narrative, role-playing elements, score and music, and performance. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received an impressive six nominations, including Game of the Year, Best Direction, Best Audio Design, Best Performance, Innovation in Accessibility, and Best Action/Adventure Game.

Nintendo Takes Home the Most Nominations

However, it was Nintendo that emerged as the biggest winner among the "Big Three" console makers. Nintendo's first-party games earned an impressive 13 nominations across various categories. Both Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder received nominations for Game of the Year and Best Direction.

Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 Lead in Nominations

Two highly anticipated titles, Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3, tied for the most nominations, with each game receiving eight nods.
