XBOX Developer Direct recently revealed details about the highly anticipated game Doom: The Dark Ages. Unlike previous games in the series, The Dark Ages serves as a prequel, delving into the series' lore and offering a fresh perspective for players.
A Shift in Gameplay
Game director Hugo Martin explained that players will need to unlearn their old gaming habits when it comes to Doom: The Dark Ages. The game focuses on a more strategic approach to combat, encouraging players to "stand and fight" rather than rely on the fast-paced run-and-gun gameplay of its predecessors.
Enhanced Combat Options
The Dark Ages introduces new combat mechanics, including the ability to do combat in a mech or on a cybernetic dragon. Players can also expect more approachability and difficulty options than ever before, allowing for a more customizable gaming experience.
Improved Glory Kill Feature
One of the standout features in The Dark Ages is the revamped glory kill mechanic. Unlike previous games, the new slow-motion glory kill feature allows players to stay in control during the attack, eliminating the pause in gameplay that was present in earlier iterations.
