So where is your memorable moment actually stored?
Where are Steam screenshots saved?
If you’re struggling to find your pics, never fear, it’s not game over.
To find your screenshots, open Steam and click ‘View’ from the menu.
When the Screenshot Uploader appears, access the Show menu.
From this dropdown you can select the title you were playing and find the screenshots you took.
To find where they’re saved on your PC, select ‘Show on Disk’.
You’ll then be able to see a folder of all your savoured snaps.
If you’re not able to access them via Steam, you can find where they’re saved on your computer’s file system by opening the platform’s installation directory.
On Windows, this will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam, for Mac, by default it’s Users/( Mac username)/Library/Application Support/Steam, while on Linux, the default directory is ~/.local/share/Steam.
From here you need to find the userdata directory. Find a folder with your user ID, and in it should be ‘706’ folder, and in that, a ‘remote’ folder.
All games have their own ID, so find its number online and when you open the folder, you’ll be able to find your pictures in the ‘screenshots’ folder.
How many screenshots can you take on Steam?
The number of screenshots you can take depends as the file sizes of each one varies.
Files will be saved on your computer so you can take as many as you like, provided you have enough memory.
