PS5 owners discover three DualSense tricks to extend controller battery life

Switch off automatically

If you often find your PlayStation 5 controller running out of battery, there's a simple trick to help maximize its lifespan. By setting a time-out on your DualSense controller, you can ensure it turns off when inactive. Just go to Settings > System > Power Saving and set the timer to 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can manually turn off the controller by holding down the PS button for 10 seconds.

Auto-mute microphone

The built-in microphone on the DualSense controller is a handy feature for in-game chats. However, leaving it on by default can drain your battery. To conserve power, simply press the LED bar just below the PS button once to turn the light orange. You can also set the microphone to be automatically muted when you switch on your console. Head to your PS5 sound settings and select "mute when logged in" for the microphone status.

Haptic feedback

The DualSense controller's haptic feedback is a standout feature, enhancing gameplay with its adaptive triggers and vibration system. However, these features can consume more power and be distracting in fast-paced games. To extend your battery life, consider reducing the intensity of these features or turning them off entirely. Navigate to Control Center > Accessories > DualSense Wireless Controller > Controller Settings > Vibration Intensity / Trigger Effect Intensity to make the adjustments. Remember, you can always change these settings back later.
