PLAYSTATION gamers might be missing out on one of the console’s best tricks.
Remote Play is a handy feature that lets you play PlayStation games on your other devices.
Try Remote Play to game on almost any device
What is PS5 Remote Play?
When you buy a PS5, you’d be forgiven for thinking you had to use it for playing video games.
But with Remote Play, you can stream your games to other devices – and play on them instead.
For instance, you could play your favourite titles on your iPhone or Android, a tablet, a desktop computer or a laptop.
You can pair your DualSense controller with those devices via Bluetooth, and start gaming as if you were playing on your PS5.
“PS Remote Play lets you stream and play your PS4 and PS5 games, switch between games, view your console home screen and browse the console’s menus on any compatible device that’s connected to your broadband network or using your mobile data,” Sony explained.
“That means you can start playing with your PlayStation console connected to a TV, pause your game and access the PS Remote Play app on your chosen device.
“And your game will be there, ready to keep playing from exactly where you left it.”
How to use PS5 Remote Play
Remote Play works on all PS5 and PS4 consoles.
You’ll also need a compatible device that’s connected to the same network.
Then you need to download the PS Remote Play app to access the feature.
You’ll also need a compatible Remote Play game, and a PlayStation DualShock 4, DualSense or DualSense Edge joypad.
Sadly not all gamers can use Remote Play.
That’s because it also depends on having a decent Wi-Fi connection.
Sony recommends a bare minimum download speed of at least 5Mbps.
But for a better experience, you’ll want 15Mbps or higher.
You can check your Wi-Fi speed using a checker here.
If you tick all of the boxes above, you can simply dive into the Remote Play app and start gaming.
You can even play games through the app without ever having to turn your TV on.
