PlayStation and Xbox owners warned of major change to Call of Duty coming TONIGHT – and fans are devastated

Game shutdown at midnight

ACTIVISION is set to shut down Call of Duty: Warzone – previously known as Warzone Caldera – tonight, much to the dismay of fans. The free-to-play game will be closed down so that Activision can shift its focus to future Call of Duty content. As a result, all gameplay, player progression, inventories, and online services will disappear, and unfortunately, they cannot be transferred to other games.

Items available in other games

However, items purchased in Caldera from Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard will still be accessible in those games. This announcement from the gaming giant, made in June, gave players a heads-up about the impending shutdown.

Nostalgia and final matches

Many gamers have been expressing their nostalgia for Caldera on social media, with some squeezing in a final match before it's too late. One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote, "Last week of Warzone 1, despite our feelings toward Caldera and the design choices made throughout its life span I am going to miss it. That game was the last time I genuinely had fun with Call of Duty."
