I've played every superhero game - and Suicide Squad might be the worst

Rocksteady's highly anticipated Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League falls short of expectations

When it comes to superhero games, Rocksteady has set the bar high with their critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Trilogy. So naturally, expectations were through the roof for their latest release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Unfortunately, it seems that the game's development was plagued with issues, resulting in a less than stellar final product.

A short main story with a multiplayer focus

Unlike the immersive single-player narratives of the Batman: Arkham games, Suicide Squad places a heavy emphasis on multiplayer and live service elements. While the main story can be completed in around 15 hours, the game's true potential feels untapped, leaving players wanting more. Additionally, the reliance on live service elements means that the game will eventually reach its end date, leaving players with a hollow experience.

Humor and strong visuals, but gameplay falls flat

Despite its shortcomings, Suicide Squad does have some redeeming qualities. The dialogue writing is top-notch, with plenty of hilarious moments that will keep players entertained. The voice acting and visuals are also impressive, showcasing the team's passion for the characters. However, the gameplay itself is where the game stumbles. Boss fights can be hit or miss, and the control scheme is confusing and inconsistent. Traversing the world as certain characters can feel clunky and slow, leading players to favor one character over the others.

Mission repetition and lackluster RPG elements

One of the major drawbacks of Suicide Squad is the lack of mission variety. Most quests boil down to generic tasks that quickly become repetitive and forgettable. The RPG system also feels like an afterthought, with little improvement or incentive to change up your character's gear. The overall experience feels lackluster and leaves much to be desired.

Final verdict: Better things to do with your time

In the end, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League fails to live up to its potential. While it has its moments of humor and impressive visuals, the lackluster gameplay, repetitive missions, and underdeveloped RPG elements make it a less than satisfying experience. If you're looking for a superhero game that truly captivates, you're better off exploring other options.
