GTA 6 fans think upcoming game will be missing a key component at launch
People want to see a simultaneous PC release.

The release date, and platforms have not been announced yet for GTA 6, but we know that the game is still in early development.

An earnings report by publisher Take-Two has strongly implied that we will see the game launch some time in late 2024.

Despite it being a long time until release, it hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about the platforms.

One member on gaming forum Resetera asked if others thought GTA 6 would release on console and PC at the same time.

While Rockstar’s other games, such as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, are now available on Steam, they were console-only at launch.

However, the industry has moved on since then, and it’s fairly normal to release games on PC at the same time as consoles.

The main exception is PlayStation, which recently stated that it wants to wait two to three years between a game’s console and PC release.

Despite this being the exception and not the rule, it seems that fans think that GTA 6 will follow suit.

One user writes: “It’ll probably be a year or so, as usual, until the PC version is released.”

Another follows up: “I see no reason to believe it will given the track record.”

The track record this user is referring to is the multiple releases that GTA 5 has seen over the last decade.

Releasing a game on a new platform encourages users to ‘double-dip’, purchasing a game again on a different platform.

While GTA 5 isn’t available on as many platforms as the infamous Skyrim, which is even available on Alexa, there have still been three releases.

It was originally released for Xbox 360 and PS3, with a later enhanced version launching for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

The final ‘Expanded and Enhanced’ version was released in 2022 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Fans believe that Rockstar will release GTA 6 in the same way, hoping people will double-dip with new versions.
