EVERY home has a random electrical drawer that’s avoided at all costs – but Sony’s PlayStation is encouraging gamers to have a peak inside.
The gaming firm has recommended folks pull their old storage drives out of retirement and into action to completely upgrade their PlayStation 5.
If you don’t have one of these lying around, you can get them fairly inexpensively online for between £20 and £40
With a USB storage drive, gamers don’t need to be weighed down by thoughts like: ‘Do I have enough room on my PS5 for that new game?’
The gadget is small enough to fit inside your back pocket, but packs a punch.
Having a formatted USB extended storage drive, people can store PS5 and PS4 games on it externally.
You can play PS4 games directly from USB extended storage, which lets you save tons of space on your PS5.
It means your console can be used to store the newest PS5 games instead.
According to PlayStation, “if you want to use a USB extended storage drive that you were previously using with your PlayStation4 console, simply connect it to your PS5 console.
“You’ll be able to access any PS4 games on the drive.”
It’ll also save you heaps of time when it comes to loading in PS5 games.
“To play PS5 games, you need to copy game data from your USB extended storage drive back to your PS5 console’s internal SSD storage,” the company added.
“It’s much quicker to copy a PS5 game from USB extended storage than to re-download it.”
However, a normal USB drive won’t be enough to house games.
It needs to be an extended USB drive, which is boxier in appearance.
If you don’t have one of these lying around, you can get them fairly inexpensively online for between £20 and £40.
