Your DualSense PS Button, found in the middle of the controller, is very useful

But knowing all four uses for the PlayStation’s central clicker can save you loads of time.

The first function is a single press, which will bring up the Control Centre.

And the second is a longer press that launches the PS5 Home Screen.

Third up is the double-tap, which will bring up PlayStation activity cards for games, media or news.

And perhaps the most little-known of all is an ultra long press.

If you hold the DualSense PS button down for around 10 seconds, your PS5 console will shut off entirely.

Other PS5 controller secrets

There are plenty of other secrets that you’ll want to uncover about your PS5 controller.

For instance, the DualSense controller has a built-in microphone.

It’s switched on unless you tap the LED bar below the PS button.

When the bar turns orange, the microphone is muted.

It’s a good idea to mute the controller so you don’t accidentally end up sharing private conversations in online multiplayer lobbies.

But the controller mic being activate also reduces the intensity of the Adaptive Triggers and haptic feedback, so muting it will restore these features to full power too.

If you hold down this button for two seconds, it will mute your entire PS5 system.

Another fun Sony DualSense Easter egg is hidden in its grippy texture.

If you look really closely, you’ll find that the controller is actually covered in tens of thousands of crosses, squares, circles and triangles.

These represent the four iconic PlayStation action buttons, and is very easy to miss.
