FIFA is releasing a free-to-play mobile game – but it’s not the one people were expecting

EA SPORTS has revealed its upcoming football game, and now it’s time for FIFA to show us its version.

FIFA 23 will be the last game made in collaboration with EA Sports and the football federation.

You can play FIFA’s newest game on Matchday Challenge.

The two are now going their own way, with EA Sports announcing its new series EA Sports FC.

Starting with the EA Sports FC 24, which we expect to see around September, the developer has given us a first look at the game.

The Ultimate Edition cover has now been revealed, showing the faces of 31 players from across both men’s and women’s football.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino also announced that the federation would be partnering up with other developers to continue the FIFA series.

He said: “The new FIFA game – the FIFA 25, 26, 27 and so on – will always be the best egame for any girl or boy. We will have news on this very soon.”

However, this statement was made back in March and we haven’t heard anything on the topic since.

FIFA previously released a number of NFT, cryptocurrency, and metaverse ‘games’, all based around gambling and the World Cup.

We are still yet to see a fully-fledged football game from FIFA, something that was clearly promised.

And while FIFA has just announced a new free-to-play football game for mobile, it’s still not the game fans were expecting.

Available to play through browsers now, Matchday Challenge is an officially licensed quiz game with questions concerning the Women’s World Cup.

There is also a mode where you can lock in guesses for the outcomes of certain matches and goals scored.

While people like to test their knowledge on football, and correctly predict World Cup winners, it’s not the game that fans were hoping for.

Still it’s the most game-like project to come out from FIFA, so I guess things are going in the right direction.
