Can you guess the Iono’s Pokémon? — new Paldean Pokémon soon to be revealed

POKÉMON has released a new trailer for Scarlet and Violet showcasing a new gym leader and her signature Pokémon.

The new gym leader is called Iono, and is a celebrity in the Paldea region as a streamer and influencer.

Firagiraf was the latest Pokémon revealed.

She wears two pink and blue Magnemite on her head to match her choice for electric Pokémon.

Iono will take charge of the Levincia gym, and she has given us clues about her signature Pokémon, which appears to be new to the Paldea region.

In her trailer she gives a number of hints, including that it is not a member of the Magnemite family.

Instead she describes it as soft and sluggish, as well as cute to suit her style.

She also says it has two bumps on its head that people mistake for eyes, and that it stores electricity in its belly.

Here’s our best guesses for Iono’s signature Pokémon based on her quiz:

Dunsparce’s evolution

Dunsparce deserves an evolution.

Generation 2 has seen a lot of evolutions to single-stage Pokémon recently, including Wyrdeer and Overqwil from Legends: Arceus, and Firagiraf in Scarlet and Violet.

There are also rumours that a new evolution for Delibird will also appear in the upcoming games.

Dunsparce has yellow and blue colouring, while the shiny is pink and yellow, fitting in with Iono’s colours.

It’s a very sluggish Pokémon with eye-like bumps on its head, though it isn’t an electric type.

However, Pokémon often change types when evolving and Dunsparce has the stats to allow for an evolution, and its look fits with the electric-type.

Pawmi’s evolution

Pawmi is a new Pokémon coming to generation 9.

Pawmi is a new Pokémon introduced for the Paldea region and it has been seen as one of the Pokémon Nemona uses.

It is said to store electricity in its fur, similar to how Iono’s Pokémon stores electricity in its belly.

Pawmi looks like a basic Pokémon and is also likely to have an evolution.

Paldean Snorlax

Snorlax definitely fits the sluggish type.

Soft, cute, sluggish, stores things in its belly? That sounds a lot like fan favourite Pokémon Snorlax.

Snorlax already has impressive stats, so it’s unlikely to get an evolution, but it could get a new typing in Paldean form.

It already has blue and yellow colouring, and it has its eyes closed which could mean a Paldean form has eye-like bumps.

Morpeko

Full Belly, Hangry, and potentially one more mode.

Morpeko is an electric/dark-type Pokémon with two modes: electric-type Full Belly mode and dark-type Hangry mode.

It also stores electricity in food in its cheek pouches which it then eats.

Terastylisation allows for a third type, which could point to a third mode for Morpeko, and Morpeko’s eyes change between each mode.

It could also be a Paldean form giving Morpeko a new typing and new mode.

Paldean Ampharos

Ampharos has already had special treatment.

This is our least likely guess, but there are a few things that point to a new Ampharos form.

Ampharos’ shiny form is blue and pink, while its regular form is yellow.

It is electric-type and also has red bumps on its head and tail. More of these appear in its mega form.

Ampharos is also one of the slower electric-type Pokémon, and with the generation 2 revival, this could be Iono’s Pokémon.
