THE Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha ran last weekend, and now that players have had a taste, they’re not happy that a major feature is missing.
Vanguard Alpha access was exclusive to PS4 and PS5 players and gave them the opportunity to try out the new Champion Hill multiplayer mode.
But after spending some time playing the alpha build, fans of the series were left disappointed.
A reddit thread highlights the problem, with OP u/Trashboat77 saying they’re “worried Map Voting will not be in final game”.
For those unfamiliar with the series, map voting is exactly what it sounds like.
At the start of each new multiplayer game, players can cast their votes for the map they want to play on.
The map with the most votes wins, and it’s usually the one that’s popular in the community at the time.
The feature is prevalent in a number of franchises, but wasn’t present in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare when it released back in 2019.
Gamers weren’t happy, but map voting made a triumphant return with Black Ops Cold War.
“This game so far shares a lot of similarities to MW2019 so far,” reads the post.
“Understandable, considering it’s running on the same engine and all.
“But one of the things I really DON’T want carried over is the lack of map voting that game had.”
Activision has already confirmed that Vanguard will be integrated into the Cold War and Warzone experience.
So players are understandably concerned that map voting could be scrapped, as it was with Modern Warfare.
At the tail end of last year, a bug temporarily removed map voting from Cold War, and the community was livid.
“Pure BS, they silently removed one of the most loved feature in the game… Its like they want us to hate the game, ridiculous,” said one infuriated gamer in a reddit thread.
It was eventually ironed out, but it’s clear that map voting is a beloved feature that Call of Duty players want to see in Vanguard.
The alpha version of the game is an early build though, so it’s worth not jumping to any conclusions just yet.
The Call of Duty: Vanguard beta is kicking off next weekend, so there’ll be a chance to get more hands-on time with the game then.
