Call of Duty 2022 is finally OFFICIAL – with a huge surprise on the way too

CALL OF DUTY Modern Warfare 2 could be releasing this year as Infinity Ward confirms its making the next series instalment.

The studio confirmed that it’ll be developing Call of Duty 2022 in a tweet yesterday.

“A new generation of Call of Duty is coming soon.

“Stay frosty.”

Activision also shared the news in its financial statement teasing something special for “this year’s premium and Warzone experiences.”

The publisher says it’s the “most ambitious plan in franchise history, with industry-leading innovation and a broadly appealing franchise setting.”

The reception to the announcement seems to be overwhelmingly positive, with the tweet amassing almost 98,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

There is some trepidation in the replies however, which is likely based on Call of Duty: Vanguard’s poor sales.

On top of that, Battlefield 2042 has been a let-down for fans, so gamers are hesitant to get their hopes up.

Most of the thread is filled with gripes about Vanguard, comments on Battlefield, and what people want to see in a new CoD title.

The Call of Duty franchise is handled by three different Activision-owned studios.

Infinity Ward worked on Warzone along with Raven Software, but before that, it created Modern Warfare which launched in 2019.

While a vocal minority is taking this opportunity to air their grievances with the series as a whole, the overwhelming amount of likes suggests fans are actually super excites to see what’s in store.
