Collaboration to Bring Mainstream Gaming and Web3 Functionality Together

AAA gaming studio Ubisoft has announced a partnership with blockchain game firm Immutable to develop Web3 games. The collaboration will combine Ubisoft's gaming development expertise with Immutable's blockchain infrastructure and experience in integrating decentralized functionality into games.

Ubisoft Excited About Bringing Fluidness to Gaming Experience

Nicolas Pouard, head of Ubisoft's blockchain initiative, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that the aim is to bring a high level of fluidness to a full-fledged game, allowing players to focus on the fun of the experience.

Immutable Sees Collaboration as Milestone for Web3 Gaming

Immutable co-founder and CEO James Ferguson sees the collaboration as an important milestone for the Web3 gaming sector. He plans to leverage the company's ecosystem to ensure the success of the partnership.

Success of Immutable's Flagship Titles

Immutable has already demonstrated the potential of Web3 gaming with successful demos of its flagship titles, including Guild of Guardians, Metalcore, Shardbound, and Infinite Victory. These games offer players different genres while incorporating Web3 aspects like immutable ownership of in-game assets.

Immutable's Zero-Knowledge Rollup Gaming Solution

Immutable recently launched the test network of its zero-knowledge rollup (ZK-rollups) gaming solution, Immutable zkEVM. ZK-rollups are a significant layer 2 Ethereum scaling technology that enables high-throughput, low-cost transactions for decentralized applications. Immutable has developed two ZK-based scaling solutions to date, including Immutable zkEVM operating on Ethereum layer-2 Polygon and Immutable X developed by ZK pioneers StarkWare.

Web3 Games Gaining Traction in Mainstream Gaming

The partnership between Ubisoft and Immutable comes at a time when Web3 games are starting to make their way into the mainstream gaming space. Illuvium Labs, for example, will have its flagship gaming title Illuvium listed on the Epic Games Store, which is home to popular games like Fortnite.
