North America Leads in Highest Web3 Engineer Salaries
A recent survey conducted by Pantera Capital has unveiled the salaries of Web3 developers around the world. The data shows that the highest salaries for Web3 engineers were reported in North America, with a median salary of $166,610. This was followed by $102,226 in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, $90,559 in Latin America, and $75,000 in the Asia Pacific Region.
Survey Highlights Remote Work Trend Among Web3 Developers
Out of over 1,600 respondents across 77 countries, less than 2% said they worked in a physical office space full-time. Only 10.6% reported working in a hybrid in-person/remote work environment, while the majority - 87.8% - said their work was fully remote.
Salary Trends in the U.S.
In the United States, the survey revealed that junior and intermediate-level Web3 developer salaries saw a decrease of 4-8% within the past year, ranging from $110,000 to $150,000. On the other hand, compensation for senior-level developers increased by 1.5% to $192,585 during the same period.
Varying Salaries for Different Web3 Roles
Salaries for finance, business development, and product operations positions in the Web3 sector were reported to be similar to those of Web3 developers. However, salaries for Web3 marketing and operations experts were among the lowest, with junior positions in these roles earning less than $66,000.
Web3 Executives Earning Impressive Salaries
For Web3 executives, starting salaries in the U.S. ranged from $147,363 for seed startups to $335,400 for firms beyond Series C funding. The survey also found that 97% of all respondents were paid in fiat currencies, while the remaining 3% opted to receive their salaries in cryptocurrency.
Token Incentives and Vesting Schedules
According to the survey, one in five individuals surveyed said they received a token incentive package from seed companies, with an average value of $50,000. This figure increased to $130,000 for Series C+ firms. These token incentives typically have a vesting schedule lasting over four years. Pantera Capital plans to update this data every six months.
