New L2 Solution for ZK-Proof Technology

Manta Network, a player in the ecosystem of layer-2 blockchain solutions, has announced the mainnet launch of its ZK-as-a-service platform. Manta Pacific is a modular L2 designed to power decentralized applications (DApps) using zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs. By offering a software development kit and ZK library, Manta aims to provide an easy integration process for developers.

Low Gas Fees and Scalability

Being Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-native, apps deployed on Ethereum can also be deployed on Manta Pacific and vice versa. This compatibility, coupled with ZK-proof technology, offers the advantage of low gas fees and scalability for users. Additionally, users have the option to bridge Ethereum to Manta in order to explore its development environment.

A Growing Market for ZK-Proof L2 Solutions

Manta Pacific joins other industry players like Consensys’ Linea zkEVM, Polygon zkEVM, Starknet, Coinbase’s Base, and zkSync Era in providing ZK-proof L2 solutions for Web3 developers. Manta Network core contributor Kenny Li explains that each of these solutions aims to address different challenges faced by developers. However, he believes that the market will eventually converge to a few key solutions that offer seamless integration and deployment of ZK-enabled applications.

Simplifying Zero-Knowledge with a Plug-and-Play Approach

Li draws parallels between the development of ZK-proof L2s and the success of software-as-a-service models in the Web2 world. He emphasizes the importance of a plug-and-play approach in simplifying zero-knowledge technology for developers. By abstracting away the complexity of cryptography and infrastructure, developers can focus on building and deploying applications.

Nine Months of Development and Growing Adoption

Manta Pacific has been in development for nine months, with its testnet launch in July 2023 attracting 150,000 wallets and over 3.5 million transactions. To further scale the project's network and use cases, Manta raised $25 million in funding from investors, with the aim of driving adoption in the Asian market.
