The experiment sought to determine whether AI can outperform a human in the complex world of crypto trading. It also aimed to shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of human decision-making compared to AI's strategic approach.
AI's strategy: Low-risk portfolio
To construct the AI's crypto portfolio, Giovanni trained it on a comprehensive summary of major crypto events over the past two years. Given the recent bearish market conditions, ChatGPT (the AI) opted for a conservative approach, aiming for a low-risk portfolio.
Human expertise: A riskier approach
Giovanni sought the guidance of Cointelegraph market analyst Marcel Pechman to construct his own portfolio. Pechman recommended a more aggressive but riskier strategy, focusing on high-beta decentralized finance tokens that were heavily impacted by the Curve Finance hack in July. The rationale was that these tokens had a strong potential to recover and surpass popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).
