Introducing Sealed Mode
Gods Unchained, the popular web3 game, has announced the launch of a new gameplay format called "Sealed Mode." This format aims to reward highly skilled players, regardless of the size or cost of their card collection. Sealed Mode, inspired by physical trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, was unveiled via a blog post on Sept. 13.
Breaking down Sealed Mode
To participate in Sealed Mode, players must pay an entry fee of 15 Gods Unchained ($GODS) tokens, roughly equivalent to $2.65. Upon payment, they will receive a random selection of three gods and 60 random cards from various Gods Unchained card sets. The card pool is semi-random, but it includes a minimum number of cards necessary to construct a viable deck. For example, each pool contains at least 12 cards that cost 3 mana or less.
Build your deck and compete
Players must construct a minimum 30-card deck from their pool of 60 cards. It is important to note that players cannot use cards from their own personal collection and must solely rely on the cards provided to them. Once their deck is ready, players will compete in matches until they achieve either three losses or seven wins. At the end of the tournament, players with better records will receive greater rewards. Winning four matches or more also grants players exclusive cosmetic rewards available only in Sealed Mode.
Sealed Mode: Bridging the gap between physical and digital card games
Sealed Mode in Gods Unchained aims to replicate the experience of "sealed deck" or "draft" tournaments in popular face-to-face card games like Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon, and Magic: The Gathering. In these games, players often use sealed formats to collect cards. However, this format was largely absent in the digital card game world. Gods Unchained changes that by representing each card as a nonfungible token on the Immutable X network, a layer-2 of Ethereum.
Gods Unchained, developed by Immutable, was one of the pioneering web3 video games. In addition to Sealed Mode, Immutable recently announced the development of a wallet application called "Passport" to simplify the login process for gamers. They also released the zkEVM testnet on Aug. 15, which is expected to enhance Ethereum scalability for video game players.
