Merging the world's most popular sport with Web3 gaming

Fanton, a fantasy football game, has joined the Cointelegraph Accelerator program with its innovative approach to introducing new users to Web3 through gaming. With over 3.5 billion soccer fans worldwide, the fantasy sports industry has become a $25 billion global market. By combining fantasy football with blockchain features like nonfungible token (NFT) cards, Fanton aims to create an accessible entry point to Web3 for the masses.

The power of collectible cards

Fanton's fantasy football game is integrated into Telegram, leveraging the platform's 800 million-strong user base. Players can collect NFT cards of their favorite football players, which earn points based on their real-life performances. These cards are issued on the blockchain and can be easily traded among players. The recent integration of Telegram with The Open Network (TON) blockchain allows users to have a noncustodial wallet directly from the Telegram app, further enhancing the gaming experience.

How the game works

Players create a virtual football team consisting of five players: a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder, a forward, and a substitute. Points are awarded based on the players' performances in real-life football matches, including goals, assists, and saves. Tournaments are organized around match days of various football leagues, including the English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, and the French Ligue 1. Additionally, a special championship is held, featuring the most important matches from the five European leagues, the Brazilian Championship, and the UEFA Champions League.

Rarity classes and rewards

The collectible cards are divided into rarity classes, ranging from common to rare, epic, and legendary. The rarer NFT cards can be purchased to participate in special NFT tournaments with higher prizes. Users can join tournaments by paying a participation fee, with 85% of the fee added to the prize pool and 15% going to Fanton. Teams that score the most points are rewarded with TON coins and collectible cards.

Fanton's straightforward product has already gained traction in user onboarding and revenue. With over 350,000 users and more than $40,000 in monthly revenue, the game has proven its appeal. The platform, backed by a seasoned team of 15 based in Spain and Indonesia, raised $300,000 in a pre-seed round in February. Fanton recently launched its product on Product Hunt, encouraging supporters to visit the platform and upvote the game.
