The Problem with Centralized Communications

The way we communicate has come a long way, from smoke signals to Zoom calls. But while centralized platforms like Zoom and Google Meet have revolutionized communication, they come with their fair share of problems. These platforms retain and monetize user data, face outages, and have the power to censor speech. Ayush Ranjan, co-founder and CEO of Huddle01, a Web3 meetings and communications platform, believes that decentralization is the key to addressing these issues.

Building a Better Solution

Huddle01 is on a mission to make communications and coordination easier and more reliable through decentralization. The platform offers Web3-native tools that allow users to connect their wallets and use NFT profile pictures as avatars. Meetings can also be token-gated, and video recordings can be stored on the InterPlanetary File System. According to Ranjan, the biggest advantage of Huddle01 over platforms like Zoom is its decentralized approach.

Progressive Decentralization

While Huddle01 currently relies on Amazon Web Services, its ultimate goal is to transition to a fully decentralized protocol. Ranjan calls this process "progressive decentralization." Instead of decentralizing everything from day one, Huddle01 is focusing on solving user demand first. The platform has already clocked 2 million minutes of call time, ensuring there will be guaranteed demand when the protocol goes live.

The User Experience Matters

Ranjan believes that focusing on the user experience is crucial. Decentralizing the platform from day one may lead to difficulties in adoption if it's too complex to use. By prioritizing the user experience, Huddle01 aims to make decentralized communication accessible and user-friendly.

The Future of Huddle01

Huddle01 has big plans for the future. The platform is working with the Lens Protocol to empower creators and is committed to protecting user privacy. Ranjan envisions a future where individuals can run their own nodes and get paid for it, creating a truly decentralized network for communication.
