FAMILIES will rush to book half-term foreign holidays as Covid test costs are slashed to just £30.
Double-jabbed Brits who return from abroad from October 24 will no longer have to take a £75 PCR test on day two.
Instead, they will be able to take a lateral flow swab, which costs around £30.
Ministers said the changes will kick-in just before the school break and slash the cost of a family holiday.
Travellers will still have to pay privately for the lateral flow tests, rather than use the NHS freebies.
And they will have to send photos of their results to the authorities to prove they are taking the tests.
Travel consultant Paul Charles said the move is a good first step which will lower the cost of travel for millions of families.
But he called for tests to be scrapped altogether now the vaccine has been rolled out. He said: “If you are fully jabbed, you shouldn’t need to take a test at all.
“They amount to a tax on travel and put people off booking due to higher costs.

“I don’t have to be tested if I return from a packed football stadium, so why should I take one if I return from a villa holiday?
“Of course it will help and lead to more bookings — but it is still a barrier for many people.”
